I have been working on something quite new and something very different. Okay, maybe not that different for me. For a long time I tried to make beaded items that everyone would love. That would sell. But it didn't make me happy and as the market became more and more saturated with basic beaded items, they didn't even make me money. And a girl's got to eat. So a few years ago, my most amazing hubby, told me to let go of the ordinary and make things that make me happy. Make things that I like and would like to have in my house. So I did. It started with some simple skull beaded work. I had no idea how many people would dislike these. Why? Skulls are pretty neat. But for everyone that didn't like them (including my FIL), I had more that loved them. People of all ages. Then I started to branch out, started to make things that incorporated my science background. I started to make bead embroidered organs. I love making these and I have plans to make many more organs. I've never had anyone tell me they don't like them. I've had plenty of people say they were not sure what one would do with a bead embroidered heart of set of lungs, but no one outright tell me they hate them. I've even had my bead embroidered work displayed at the medical college. And I'm hoping to be able to have stuff there again. But now I've started a new route, one that I've been dreaming of trying for a while. Here is my first combo of bones and beads. It's a deer jaw that I beaded (okay, I guess you all could see that). I'm loving it. I just love the way the beads work with the bone, it looks so great. I cannot wait to start on my next project. I'm not going to give too much away, but it involves bones and beads again, imagine that. If you want to check out some progress shots, check out my instagram account. I post work in progress shots as well as cute photos of my little pug.
