Working on my Photography Skills

I've always loved photography. I love to look at it. I love to take photos. I've always been the one with a camera taking 100s of photos. Then I started Three Fates and I needed to up my game. No longer just any photo would do. I needed good product photos. I didn't have the money to have someone else to do it for me, so that meant I had to figure it out myself.

I got my first DSLR about 10 or 11 years ago. Well, to tell the truth, it wasn't mine. I bought it for my hubby as a Christmas gift. He always wanted one, so I decided to go all out and surprise him with one. I had my first "real" job out of college and had a little bit of money to buy one. He was so excited. He used it for a few days and then that was it. It went back in the box and sat in a closet for years.

When I first started my online business, I would beg him to get it out and help me with my photos. He would normally oblige me and take a couple product photos for me. Well then I got impatient and decided I could do it too. All he did was set it on automatic and take a couple pictures. I could do that.

I mean how hard could it be? It was. It was very hard. Even on automatic, I wasn't getting the shots I wanted. So I had to learn more. I read the manual cover to cover a few times. That got me on my way. It was wonderful having so much control. I loved it. I loved learning about that camera and I loved learning about taking photos.

I've been constantly working on my product photography skills. I've liked to think that I'm pretty good at it. Not only can I take the photo, I know my way around Photoshop pretty well. J has taught me a lot about Photoshop, but most of the things I've learned where from YouTube videos.

A few years ago I decided I wanted more. So I started taking Photoshop classes. I am now finishing up my advanced class and I'm pretty proud of myself.

I also decided that I wanted to improve my camera skills as well as my photography. I wanted to be able to take stunning photos of my friends and family. So I started taking photography classes as well. It's just so interesting to me.

Once I learned a lot of technical things, I decided I wanted to make my photos better. So I shot a lot. A LOT of photos. And I am currently taking a composition class. I want to learn what makes a beautiful photo and how I can achieve that. So you will be seeing from time to time some photos I've taken. Okay, all the photos on this website are mine, but less product photos and more artistic photos.

I would love any feedback. Let me know if you like it. Let me know what I can change. I've only been at this for a short while, so feedback is really important to me.

Well, if you've made it through all of that, I know, it was a lot, you should get some photos to look at as well. So here you are, some of my first photos from my composition class.
